Trying to decompress and let go.
Pushing worries about projects at work out of my brain so I can sleep.
…at least, I’m trying to.

Don’t ask Kobe Bryant, “How does it feel to win an NBA Championship?” Because he will answer by smiling and punching you in the face.

Sigh. I love my boys. I’d wear my Lakers jersey to work tomorrow if I could.

In other news, my hair’s getting really long again and I need to do something about it. I’m tired of my standard haircut, but it never seems like a good time to do something completely new with it, especially now (big work events, holiday pictures, etc.).

Pseudo-adventures in New York City (via enduresallthings)
Video from our trip to New York City spliced together, as well as David’s Abercrombie and Fitch rant and part of my commentary at the NBC Experience Store.
It’s super exciting, I know.

oh my GOD this album. shit. i love every word. reminds me of that time in middle school/high school when i first realized that being a teenager was “difficult” and that music “got me.” it was all about heartbreak and being misunderstood (you wanna know who i really am? / yeah, so do i) and i wanted to be able to relate to every word. in reality, the only experience with “love” i had at 15 were those times where crushes on boys felt monumental. when they fizzled (inevitably) i could sing along to this and it made all of those confusing feelings perversely enjoyable. this kind of music absolutely relishes in that strange you-knew-it-wouldn’t-work sort of relationship. “this is not an exit” still brings on the chills. who knows if this music is considered technically good? i’ll never care.

Ditto.
this song will become the anthem of your underground

Wallace Shawn in The Princess Bride - the Wager (via Easthawk9)
Just put in The Princess Bride. While in SoHo last week, we saw Wallace Shawn at McNally Jackson — he was there for a book signing during the New Yorker Festival!
It was pretty cool. We saw him leave with only one other person. No entourage, no fancy car to pick him up — just another guy with a big bag, schlepping it to the nearest train stop.

What I wore on Monday night to the County Executive’s Awards for the Benefit of the Arts and Humanities. I was only onstage to hand the award and certificate to the County Executive to present to the awardee, but still — being backstage around civic and cultural leaders in the county, ya gotta step it up.
Black and white sleeveless sheath dress by Michael Kors, bought at an outlet for $50 back in June; black jacket from H&M, black pointy-toed heels by Kelly & Katie from DSW (so comfortable, I could run in them!)

Did ANYONE ELSE have this video back in the day? I loved this movie — I watched it almost every day.
WIIIIILD!

I have the insane urge to watch this movie right now.

I LOVE YOU GUISE
So I left work early today and worked from home because I wasn’t feeling too well. I’m not coughing or sneezing, just a little dizzy and headache-y. I’d rather rest and get rid of it than work through it, get worse and possibly infect my co-workers (we don’t have great ventilation in our offices).
The up side? I’m home to watch a full night of NBC comedy! Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, 30 Rock, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien. Yess.
(I swear I’m not being paid by NBC to say all this!)

The guidance counselor can sing too?!

FAO Schwartz had a whole UglyDoll section. Love.

Eating the most awesome pesto tortellini at Pomodoro in Nolita. We also had the nicest waiter in the world — I’m definitely going back whenever I’m in town.
